What started as as a hobby, became my passion and turned into my life. Starting salsa dance nine years ago in university, I did not know I would grow into the dancer I am today.
2015 – 2020
Casually took classes until I started to train with Melaza Company by Jorge Aguilar in Barcelona. A year of intense training, cut off early by the pandemic
2020 – 2023
I started dancing with Joyce Silvia Xavier, who inspired my journey immensely and with whom I further developed my style of dance. One of our special collaborations was filmed and posted on Youtube:
Out of this partnership, we reconnected with my teacher from Spain whom we founded Melaza Dance Company Amsterdam with. This team would ignite my passion and international experience as we travelled Europe with our shows.
2023 – 2024
After quitting my job, I started a partnership with Anne-Elise Wouters from Yamulee and also started a semi-pro team called ‘Saragüey’ in Amsterdam with Laura Truijens. Anne-Elise and I performed in Italy, Spain, Greece and more and my 15 students learned 3 choreos that we performed nationally and internationally.
2024 – Today
End of 2024 I decided to travel more solo, learning from the best schools like Yamulee, Iroko, BailaRico Zürich, La Secta Athens and more teachers along the way. I premiered my Solo and now visit festivals to perform, teach and of course live my passion for social dancing.
